Trail Connections

The Trail Connections Partners As the East Coast Trail expands (we expect a total length of more than 400 km) and the Trail Connections Hiking Program is becoming increasingly popular, we are constantly adding new partners. Below is information on our major hosts. For more information click on the images to the right. Points East Guesthouse, Pouch Cove This century old, renovated, comfortable fisherman’s home with hobby farm and garden at the edge of the ocean has the feel of an earlier era. From the doorstep you enjoy a great view of the ocean and dramatic coastline. The house is filled with Newfoundland literature, music and original art. Pouch Cove, a picturesque outport that attracts many artists, is located 25 km north of St. John’s and your hiking tour normally starts here, at the northern tip of the East Coast Trail. Host Elke Dettmer is one of the founders of the East Coast Trail Association and acts as coordinator of the Trail Connections hiking program. Wild Roses B&B, Goulds (near Petty Harbour) Wild Roses B&B offers traditional Newfoundland hospitality in a genuine country setting. The house features four bright spacious bedrooms, a large family sitting room, wireless internet access, a patio deck with BBQ. You will enjoy the warm and friendly family atmosphere of this home provided by your host Mary Ridgley. Belle Maison, Port Kirwan Belle Maison is a unique oceanfront accommodation in Port Kirwan, a small fishing village on the Spurwink Trail Head of the East Coast Trail. Beside the main house with three queen suites, hikers can avail of a refurbished shipping container, a permanently set up RV with private deck and a twin room suite. The large mud room features basic kitchen utilities, and the hot tub is an added bonus at the end of a hiking day. Our dining room is very popular, and we are delighted to have everyone come together each evening for our fine dining experience where we serve locally sourced food with international flair.
