Trail Connections

The Hiking Program The itinerary generally leads you from north to south along the East Coast Trail. You will hike the trail Sections between Cape St. Francis and St. John's while staying in Pouch Cove for the first 4 days, followed by 4 days in St. John's at the hostel with shuttle service available between Fort Amherst and Bay Bulls, and for the southern sections of the East Coast Trail we will recommend other accommodations to be booked directly. Your hosts will assist you to hike the paths in their vicinity while taking into account the weather, the condition of the particular trail section, as well as your level of fitness and ambition. You hike on your own with the help of the excellent set of maps available from the office of the East Coast Trail Association. Your hosts or the shuttle service will get you to the trail head and meet you again at the end of the hike, making sure that you return safely. Please note that you hike at your own risk. To take a break from hiking, you can explore other sites and activities such as boat tours to the Witless Bay Bird Islands, an ecological reserve teeming with nesting seabirds, where early in the season icebergs and whales are often seen. A visit to the archaeological site at Ferryland and opportunities for sea kayaking can be arranged as well. Additional charges may apply. You can start your holiday at any time during the hiking season (May October). We recommend early booking as space is limited. Each partner gets paid separately.
